Obituary

COOK, Sharon Margaret – Sharon passed away peacefully at Mount Hope Nursing Home on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the age of 79. The daughter of Margaret Cook and William Fisher Cook, she will be greatly missed by her brother David.

Born in London, she attended Victoria Public School for her early education until her abilities were recognized and she transferred to Empress Public School and their advanced program. Her early independence showed as she travelled to school alone by bus across the city in the early morning hours at the age of eight! She attended South Collegiate, followed by Teachers College. She headed north at the age of 18 to teach at Hudson and Port Arthur for four years before returning to London where she spent the rest of her career with the London Board of Education. Sharon was very active and had many friends in the Chinese community, taking field trips to photograph and use her sketching and painting talents. She was a lifetime member of Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church and had a strong interest in family history and genealogy. She also completed her BA through summer and extension courses at Western University.

The funeral service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond on Friday, December 21 at 11:30 am with visitation preceding from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Reception to follow. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
