Obituary

FEINER, Stephen (Steve) – With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Steve Feiner of London, Ontario, age 77 on Friday, November 17, 2023, with family by his side at Victoria Hospital. Steve was the beloved husband of Susan (nee Cahill) for 43 years, and cherished father of Hannah (Diego) of Toronto, Michael (Jane) of Edmonton, Peter (Michelle) of Scarsdale, New York and James of Hamilton as well as doting grandfather of Julia and Alice, Sarah and Jacob and Dylan and Matthew. He was a loving brother to Frank (Tao) of Ottawa, John (Carol) of Ottawa and Lynne (Randy) of Red Lake.

Steve’s passing is also mourned by his sisters and brothers in law, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Rose Feiner (Hyman) of Ottawa.

Steve attended Fisher Park Secondary School in Ottawa and studied chemistry at Carlton University where he started his career as an Analytical Chemist in Dr. Donald Wigfield’s lab. He also studied philosophy at Carlton and received a Masters in Philosophy at the University of Ottawa in 1978, the year he met Susan.

In 1980 they married and subsequently lived in Toronto, Fredericton and Beaconsfield, Quebec before settling in Old South London with their young family in 1989.  Steve was a generous, loving and devoted father and grandfather.  He took great pleasure in sharing with his friends and family his life long interests in guitar, cycling and Scrabble.

Steve took pride in his work in the Research and Development group at Parmalat Canada (previously Ault Foods) from which he retired in 2016. His passion for science extended beyond the professional realm, including helping his children with their many science projects.

The funeral service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, on Saturday, November 25 at 2 pm, with visitation preceding from 1-2 pm. Reception to follow the service.

The family is grateful to all service and medical staff for their dedicated care. Donations in memory of Steve may be made to the United Nations Children’s Fund (www.unicef.org). The family expresses special thanks for all the kindnesses shown during the recent difficult period.
