Susan Alexi, 59, passed away peacefully in her bed at home on January 7th, in Halifax, NS, while accompanying her daughter in her last leg of her life. She was known for going against the grain for what she believed in and standing up for her values. Her personality was larger than life, as was her collection of shoes. Fortunately, her daughter Chelsea (who didn’t fall far from the tree in allregards) now holds the honour to give her shoes a second shot at the runway, and continue to represent her infamous appreciation of all things leopard print.
Susan was warm, chatty and not the slightest bit reserved; she would gladly pour you a drink and invite you to share your stories with her. She lived her life to the fullest, traveling to tropical destinations, as well as continually supporting and visiting her daughter as Chelsea made her way around Canada. She was often found singing her favourite ‘oldies’ songs as she crossed the US border with her shopping sidekick and “good” influence, Kathy. There are plenty of great stories that followed those two; you just have to ask!
Also known as ‘The Tornado’, Susan started many projects without finishing them first. Her daughter is more than happy to carry on the tradition and create further chaos in Susan’s name.
Needless to say, Susan made the most of her time here on earth, and left an impression on everyone she met. Happily she’s at peace now, and no longer suffering nor in pain from the complications caused by her diabetes. Predeceased by her parents Anna and Laszlo Alexi, Susan is survived by her sisters Anna, Esther, and Eleanor and her daughter Chelsea, and best companion, Maisy. She will be missed more than she knows. Rest in peace, Susan.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan’s name to Diabetes Canada.
Thank you for your kind words and prayers.
