Tony Smith

Obituary

SMITH, Tony – With his beloved wife Lene (Torlov) and daughter Lesley at his side, we are so, so sad to announce the passing of Tony Clive Smith on November 13, 2023. Tony will forever be missed by his sister Patricia Parkin (Derby), Laurel and John Torlov (London) and many friends. This easy going, gentle, kind man with a great sense of humour was born in Derby, England on December 9, 1934. He did a tour of National Service where his Olympic water polo and swimming skills kept him out of uniform quite regularly.

Tony earned degrees from Imperial College and Loughborough University in Civil Engineering. He arrived in Canada in 1963 and London became his home, working for Ontario Hydro and enjoyed being the Captain of St.George’s rugby team. Tony loved to travel and his home improvements were excellent, especially the gazebo where many dinners were enjoyed. A private celebration of Tony’s life will be held at later date. If desired donations can be made to The London Food Bank.
