Victor Petrowski

Obituary

PETROWSKI, Victor – Peacefully in Vancouver on March 14, 2022, Victor Charles Petrowski, formerly of London, Ontario, age 96.

Beloved husband of the late Mary Anne Petrowski, nee Kent (2003). Loving father of Dr. Suzanne (Dr. Richard) Lewis of Vancouver, Lauren (Nicholas) Teevan of London and the late Kent Petrowski (1971). Dear grandfather of Jordan and Kendall Lewis and Benjamin and Ruby Teevan. Also loved by brother Edmund Petrauskas (the late Grazina) and several nieces and nephews.

Born Vytas Petrauskas on December 4, 1925 in Gincai, Lithuania he had plans to attend Medical School in 1943, when the upheaval of World War II prevailed. This led him to change his name in order to join and fight with the Allies on the Polish Forces for the British Army. When the War was finally over, he ended his term in Italy; May 1945. After he was finally reunited with his family through a displaced persons camp in 1949, he worked to bring his family and immigrated to Canada where he started the next stage of his life in London, Ontario.

Victor received his Chartered Accountant (CA; 1952) and Masters of Business Administration (MBA)degrees from the Ivey Business School at Western University. He joined one of London’s major packaging firms, Somerville Industries Ltd., as an accomplished Comptroller up to retirement. Victor served as a dedicated volunteer for many professional and charitable organizations (Chapter President, Society for the Advancement of Management; Treasurer of the Board, King’s University; Gyro; the Mocha Shrine Club, amongst others).

An intelligent, kind, well-liked and true gentleman, Victor loved his family and many friends dearly, whether over beer and BBQ at the cottage, a good bridge game, poker with “the boys” or fly-fishing at his beloved Caledon Mountain Trout Club.

A memorial service will be held at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, on Thursday, June 2 at 11 am. Memorial contributions to the Children’s Health Foundation, www.ChildHealth.ca would be appreciated.
