ADAM, Wesley John – Peacefully at his home with family by his side on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, Wesley John Adam of London formerly of Orillia in his 89th year. Happily married to Joyce for 59 years. Loving father of Natalie Reikman and her husband Tom of Waterloo, Jeffrey Adam of London, Cheryl Hackett and her husband Jeff of London. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Eric and fiancée Katrina, Christina, Abigail and fiancé William, Emmett, Will, Montana and Kurtis. Brother of James Bain Adam and his wife Patricia of Orillia, the late Jean Marie Parr and Bruce Adam. Brother-in-law of Ted Parr of Orillia. Wes will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and extended family and he will be greatly missed by his brother Jim.
Wes worked for the Bell Telephone Company for 43 years in Labrador, Barrie, Montreal and London. He was devoted to his family, his faith and his church. He shared his love of the outdoors and baked goods with all those who knew him. His greatest pride was attending, with Joyce, every activity in which his grandchildren participated.
At St. Jude’s Church, he was a warden, a board member and on the Committee of Stewards. His involvement in his own children’s sports included Stoneybrook Sports Association, Ilderton Winter Club and Skate Canada. As an outdoorsman he was a member of Thames River Anglers Association. He loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed a lifetime of camping with his children across the country. Papa also shared his love of the outdoors and camping with his grandchildren.
He loved Christmas in July with his extended family as well as traditional family Christmases in December. As the only family member living hours away from his hometown, Wes was dedicated to making the trip home for any family celebrations. New Years Eve was always spent with friends, playing games and sharing food.
Over the last few months he enjoyed sitting in the backyard watching his TV, reading his books and visiting with family and friends.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Sanatani and primary nurse, Julie, of the LHSC Cancer Centre and all the members of the palliative care team of Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Stack and especially his nurse, Sinoja.
All funeral arrangements will be private due to the pandemic. Cremation has taken place and private interment at St. John Church Cemetery in Matchedash, Ontario will occur at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The Church of St. Jude or The Terry Fox Foundation.
