Yvonne Doran

Obituary

Yvonne Doran passed away into a peaceful slumber surrounded by loved ones on March 27, 2022 at 1 pm after a short battle with cancer. Born Yvonne Estelle Shipway on January 28, 1938 in her family home in Leaside (Toronto). She is now reunited with her father Charles Shipway Jr., mother Dorothy Bernice (Wilson) and sister Denise. She spoke fondly of playing baseball as a girl and spent many years bowling in leagues and for family fun and loved to go dancing. Married in 1957 to her high school (Northern Vocational in Leaside) sweetheart, the late Edward George Tucker (Norma) and became a loving mother to Michelle (Scott Abernethy) and Deborah (Eric McNally). After almost 25 years of marriage, she found the courage and become a fiercely determined single parent. Yvonne always put her family first. She took great delight and pride in being a grandmother to Rayna (Eric), Kiera (David) and Deanna. She cherished her siblings Dalton, Dee-Dee and Allan (Donna), and their families: nephews Colin and Bryan (Gabriel) and niece Anna. With pleasure, she remained an active part of the Tucker family. Yvonne was a proud Torontonian but moved to London, Ontario to be closer to family. A lifetime of memories was made at the family cottages on the shores of Thunder Beach. She generously donated to many charities, even when money was tight. She retired in from Reinforcing Steel Institute of Ontario as the Office Manager where her incredible organizational and personable skills shined. What started as a relationship through the family business (Art Wire and Iron (Toronto)) and continued through her working life was the connection to the Toronto Construction Association (TCA). Yvonne was politically active, spending countless hours volunteering and worked many elections. She spent many years active in the One Parent Family organization, where she made many friends and met her second husband Dudley (Bud) Doran (predeceased). She was fond of her relationships with step daughters Bridgette, Diana (Thomas) and Debbie, and their families. She will be missed by many more family and friends. Much gratitude goes out to the caring staff of Parkwood in London, Ontario and friend/caregiver Lori. A celebration of her life to be held at a later more permissible date. At her request, in lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite charity.
